Mullens debut starts on the bench
Ohio State freshman B.J. Mullens made his highly anticipated collegiate debut Thursday night but fans at St. John Arena had to wait to see the seven-footer in action. The nation's No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2008 came off the bench in the Buckeyes season-opener as Dallas Lauderdale led them to a 70-42 victory

Bucks debut strong
Nobody can expect a perfect debut and while the Buckeyes showed plenty of areas that the coaching staff can work on the team still looked good in a 70-42 win over a weary Delaware State team. William Buford scored 13 points on the night as the Buckeyes spread out scoring among eight players.

Donnal is an intriguing prospect
Even though linemen keep getting bigger, more of a premium is beginning to be placed on athleticism. One of the most athletic offensive linemen in the Midwest is Andrew Donnal. The versatile tackle recently completed an excellent junior season, and is now hearing from some of the top schools in the are

Last go-around for Boeckman
Take a look senior quarterback Todd Boeckman and all he has accomplished during his time with the Ohio State football team. Given he led the Buckeyes to the title game last season, it has been a lot. Just a year later, Boeckman lost his job to freshman Terrelle Pryor. When the Buckeyes face off against Michigan, it will be the seniors last stand. Is there anything to expec

Expert Roundtable: The Game - Who wins?
A year ago it took a Herculean effort from Ohio State tailback Beanie Wells to overcome the Wolverines and weather in Ann Arbor. In first career start in the rivalry, Beanie ran for a record 222 yards as the Buckeyes outlasted Michigan 14-3 on the road. Now the rivalry returns to Columbus under unusual circumstances and this week's roundtable asks who will win The Game Saturday

Bruce reminds 08 Buckeyes of 69 upset
Considering their 3-8 record in 2008, an upset of Ohio State Saturday would give this Michigan team a place in history. Coach Earle Bruce was there the last time the Wolverines made history with an upset of the Buckeyes and he made sure this year's group knows all about it. The 1969 game has always stood out in this rivalry for many reasons, but was it really the remarkable upset it claims to be

All is calm at Mirror Lake right now but that will change on Thursday night with thousands of students will descend on the small body of water to honor Michigan Week by plunging themselves in the depths (maybe a couple of feet) of the icy cold water. Joyner has big time attention

Behind enemy lines: Can Michigan compete?
This week's matchup of 9-2 Ohio State and 3-8 Michigan lacks the luster of a marquee rivalry game. The Buckeyes are 20-point favorites at home to capture a record fifth straight victory over the Wolverines but this rivalry has never been played on paper. We take an inside look at UM with TheWolverine.com writer Michael Spath

Bucks not buying into 3-8 record
There has been a lot of history in the Ohio State/Michigan series throughout the years. The Wolverines are on the wrong end of some right now with their 3-8 record but the Buckeyes are not buying that this team is as bad as their record indicates. What have the Buckeyes thought as they break down the film and what do they expect come Saturday

Does Rich Rod get it?
When Jim Tressel was introduced in 2001 as Ohio State's head football coach, he made it a point to talk about beating Michigan as a priority of his. This season, newly-hired Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez hasn't made the same type of comments about the importance of the rivalry. Does Rich Rod get i

Ohio State expects to bring out Michigan's best
When coach Rich Rodriguez took over at Michigan, fans knew there were going to be growing pains. However, few could have imagined the depths to which their beloved Maize and Blue would fall in just one year. Despite their 3-8 record, the Ohio State players believe the rivalry will bring out the best in these Wolverines.

Season to forget?
With just the Ohio State game left on Michigan's record, Wolverines head coach Rich Rodriguez admitted he had more work on his plate than he would have expected when taking the job. After losing eight games for the first time in program history, what's left for the Wolverines to d

Slimmed down Sullinger set on title
If it wasn't for Kenny Boynton, Jared Sullinger probably would have been the player of the summer in 2008. The Ohio State commitment was simply the best player in the 2010 class game in and game out. Now Sullinger is better than ever, the 6-foot-8 power forward has transformed his body and is ready for his junior seaso

More than a game
While it might be up for debate in certain parts of the country there is nothing like the Ohio State versus Michigan rivalry as the nation's premier college football series. While the Buckeyes have held the edge recently not all of the times have been happy ones. One thing is for certain however, the Buckeyes understand the history of this rivalry and this will be a special game for all

Are all bets off?
The odds makers have made the Buckeyes and overwhelming favorite in the upcoming game with the Michigan Wolverines. Despite being in the neighborhood of a three touchdown favorite the Buckeyes are not paying any attention to the lines set up by the bettors and rather focusing on a historic rival that would love nothing more than to spoil Ohio State's bowl plans

All eyes on Pryor
Saturday's game against Michigan has a lot riding on the line. A win gives them a share of the Big Ten title, a BCS bowl and most importantly another win against Michigan. Not only is Terrelle Pryor going after his first win against Michigan, he is going after history. What could Pryor accomplish that no other quarterback has done and who thinks on the team that Terrelle's potential is endless

Hot 11: Post Illinois
Saturday's road finale for the Buckeyes ended up being a good test in bad weather. Now the Buckeyes turn all attention to arch-rival Michigan. Before we turn all of our attention to that school up north it is time to take a final look at the Illinois game and break out our Hot 11 list. There was movement at the top and the bottom of the list. Who moves in and who moves out

Dispatch OSU football writers Tim May and Ken Gordon take readers "inside the beat" of Buckeyes football: It was just another day in paradise Saturday in Champaign: cold and windy, pretty much the reason so many Ohio State alums e-mail us from Florida this time of year. Speaking of e-mails, there weren't nearly as many angry missives flooding our inboxes after the Buckeyes' 30-20 victory over Illinois. Maybe it was the old-school style of winning (305 yards rushing), or maybe it's because after that stumble against Penn State, OSU is back on track, shooting for a share of the Big Ten title and a possible Rose Bowl berth heading into Michigan week. The Bottom Line

On the edge

OSU hopeful with Big Ten still in play
For Ohio State this season, it appears that what goes down must come up.

5 key factors
1 Build a "Juice" box Nobody needs to remind Ohio State what Illinois QB Juice Williams did to the Buckeyes last year (four TD passes, 70 yards rushing). OSU's defense needs to stay disciplined up front. Keep Williams in the pocket and don't give him lanes for a draw or allow him to roll to the perimeter. Make him stand and deliver: He can wing it, but 14 times this season he has thrown it to the other team.

There's nothing sneaky about Jon Thoma. He just likes the fact that he has done his job so well this season that few Ohio State fans know his name, much less know how to pronounce it (it's toe-mah, like "Toga! Toga!"). As the holder for place-kicker Ryan Pretorius, Thoma performs a vital but often unappreciated role which isn't noticed unless something goes wrong. Quick notes
Mighty offensive Since 1980, Ohio State has scored 40 points or more vs. Northwestern 12 times in 22 meetings. In 1980 and '81, the Buckeyes won 63-0 and 70-6, the largest margins of victory in the series.

Opposite sideline
Facts of the matter Northwestern wanted to show that its 7-2 record wasn't the product of a weak schedule, but that's how it will look now. The Wildcats matched Ohio State's early touchdown, then wilted. Even when fully healthy, the Wildcats typically have a hard time matching up against the Buckeyes' brawn. These Wildcats, missing running back Tyrell Sutton and quarterback C.J. Bacher, were one-trick ponies. Once Ohio State figured out how to constrain backup QB Mike Kafka, Northwestern had little left in its arsenal. Defensively, the Wildcats' inconsistent tackling and inability to prevent Terrelle Pryor from making big plays proved fatal.

5 key factors
1 Beware of Wildcats' pressure Northwestern is second in the Big Ten in sacks with 26, and Ohio State has given up 22, tied for most in the conference. Those statistics do not bode well for OSU's beleaguered offensive line. Nine games in, hoping for major improvement probably is unrealistic. The Buckeyes might be wise to focus on draws, screens and short, quick passes to help slow down the Wildcats' pass rush.
