With all due respect to the Illibuck, I would like to enlighten everyone to a real rivalry in college football.

No this isn’t another post about the greatest rivalry of all Ohio State vs. m*ch*g*n, nor is this about supposed great rivalries such as the Iron Bowl, Civil War, or Red River Shootouts.  This my friends is about Boise State vs. Nevada.

That’s right right now these two storied programs with (perennial, at least since 1992 or so) are on a collision course much like the epic #1 vs #2 2006 OSU m*ch game.

The Boise State Broncos have had such a hard road to being undefeated this year with starting the season against Top Ten power Virginia Tech, on the road no less!  What fortitude and gumption they showed in out VTing VT. AKA getting a special teams play and then being credited the greatest thing since sliced bread.  Don’t even get me started about how they were so bruised and battered after that 33-30 whopping put on VT that they took a week off.  I mean they had to to prepare for those wacky Cowboys of Wyoming.  Good thing they did because they barely got by with a 51-6 edge in that battle.  Then by god just one week ONE WEEK later they had to tussle with PAC TEN powerhouse Oregon State, how were they supposed to survive that matchup, Oregon State has five yeah FIVE conference titles.  Somehow the Broncos managed to a 37-24 victory.

Nevada is so good that they have jumped out of nowhere into the polls.  Who can forget their Salad Bowl victory over North Texas on January 1, 1948 seemingly the last time they were ranked or their 1923 Cal Game!?! They are now a dominating 25th in the rankings at 4-0.  Kaepernick has guided this bunch to a win over never overrated Cal, Eastern Washington, another team so good I can’t remember their name who has since given up football, and BYU.  I mean who goes 4-0 playing Cal AND BYU in the same year are you serious, I am only surprised they haven’t jumped into the top ten for their lofty acheivements.

Thankfully Boise State made it through two ranked teams! I mean who cares that VT lost to a 1-AA school the following week or that Oregon State is always highly over rated. Didn’t Oregon State have this guy? OH right wrong orange and OSU.  Nevermind, I digress.  Nevada vaults into the rankings while other Boise State opponents fall off of it.  All we will have to hear is how they faced three ranked teams this year and they should be “given a shot”.  I mean look they have beaten Oklahoma in a bowl game or wedding proposal not sure which?, it can be done.  Forget the fact that they got WAXED by Georgia a few years ago, just forget what you want to get Boise in the title game I mean after all it’ll be a good story right?

I find it hard to fathom that the PAC Ten was trying so hard to become the PAC 16 earlier in the summer that an invite would not have been sent Boise’s way?

Play in a real conference you smurf midget horse riders.
